Matthew Hayes is the founder of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Club for Academic Competition and the reason it is named such. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in computer science at Case Western Reserve University. His strengths included music, sports, computer science, and history, but he was a great all-around player as well. Perhaps the most entertaining player in the history of the club, Matt made fun of Jake Sundberg for years because he always got the Euler tossup before Jake did. The mentor of Jake Sundberg for 3.5 years, his presence in competitions and at practice is missed.
