Seth Teitler is a Chilean-American quizbowl player and member of NAQT. Seth is currently working at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and was formerly a student of the University of Chicago, where he played from 2004 to 2010 as a doctoral candidate in the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics. He previously played with Berkeley from 1999-2004.

Seth is known for his outstanding mastery of world mythologies in addition to his strength in the physical sciences and very high level of general knowledge, making him arguably the best player since Andrew Yaphe. He led the 2007 Chicago team to a national championship double crown, and repeated the feat in 2009 by leading the 2009 Chicago teams to victories over Brown and Illinois in the 2009 ACF Nationals and 2009 NAQT ICT championships, respectively, making his 2009 title his third straight ACF Nationals title championship. He was also a key player on the 2003 Berkeley ACF National and 2004 Berkeley NAQT ICT championship teams. He also led Chicago to a 2nd place finish at the 2008 NAQT ICT. He has also been on several winning teams at Chicago Open, including most recently in 2011 and 2013.

He is considered an "evil archvillian" by the University of Maryland.

Seth played on a Berkeley team that took 1st place at the 2003 ACF Nationals with David Farris, Jeff Hoppes and Jon Pennington.

Seth Teitler and Andrew Yaphe are tied for the honor of most decorated collegiate quizbowl player, as far as national championship titles are concerned; they each won 8 titles across their respective college quizbowl careers.

Tournament editing and writing

Seth helped edit and write the 2002 Science Masters, 2004 BLaST, 2005 ACF Fall, 2007 ACF Regionals and 2007 Chicago Open sets. He helped write the 2003 Subash Maddipoti Singles, John Stuart Mill Open and the 2006 EFT sets. He wrote the 2005 Myth Singles set. He may have written some science questions for the 2002 Chicago Open. He also served as an advisor to the 2009 ACF Fall set. [1]

More recently, Seth has been writing at editing at the collegiate level for NAQT, which brought him on to head-edit the 2009 SCT in an unprecedented arrangement while he was still an active collegiate player. Seth thereafter head-edited the 2011 SCT and 2011 ICT, and has worked on many NAQT questions at all levels since obtaining his Ph.D, becoming a member in 2012.
