| − | '''Honaker''' is a team from ''deep'' southwestern Virginia that mostly plays in the Virginia High School League. They are known as the dominant team over the [[VHSL Black Diamond District |Group A Black Diamond District]] for the past sixteen years, and usually also Region D Champions. They have been VHSL state tournament competitors almost every year since the launch of VHSL ScoBowl in its current format. In 2010, after attending 9 VHSL State Competitions, Honaker finished runner-up in Group A, followed by two more runner-up performances in 2011 and 2013. After the 2013-14 reassignment of VHSL Academic Teams based on school size, Honaker took home the first 1A VHSL State Championship, as well as the first state title in the program's history.

At the VHSL State Tournament, the team had a similar performance to the previous year, finishing 0-2 with losses to the soon-to-be champions [[Radford |Radford High]] and [[Rappahannock County]], who would finish 4th.

| − | - Former Honaker coach [[Alex Zachwieja]] was a member of the VHSL Scholastic Bowl Advisory Committee. He took up the position in 2009, and currently has over 400 VHSL regular season victories along with an eight-year undefeated streak in the Black Diamond District/now Crooked Road District and six straight Regional-level titles. Zachwieja retired from Honaker High School after the 2014 state championship season, bringing an end to his 16-year tenure as head coach (1998--2014).
