Most states or provinces have a tournament that determines the best team within its borders. Often, a single polity can have multiple state tournaments due to geographic logistical issues, like the North California and South California championships. These events are usually organized and run by a state high school athletic organization. Often, they play on a custom packet set, sometimes of questionable quality. Some state tournaments run on the same IS set nationwide.
