The 2001 ACF Nationals was held on March 23 and March 24 at Michigan. Michigan A, consisting of Ezequiel Berdichevsky, Adam Kemezis, Michael Davidson, and Noel Erinjeri won the tournament, defeating Virginia A 300-100 in a one-game final. The tournament was edited by Dave Hamilton, Subash Maddipoti, and Andrew Yaphe.
Tournament results
Virginia defeated Michigan B in a play-in game 260-205 for the right to play Michigan A in the finals. Michigan A won in a one-game final. The second-place Virginia team consisted of John Kenney, Abhnivav Nath, Steve Perry, and Matt Schiffler. The format consisted of a round-robin in two brackets of eight teams, followed by two playoff crossover brackets, followed by the play-in and final game. Crossover records combined with preliminary records from similarly ranked teams. [3] In the top playoff bracket, Michigan A, Virginia, and Michigan B were all tied at 6-1. They were seeded for the play-in and final game by playoff points per game.
Individual results
The top five scorers at the tournament through all rounds were John Kenney of Virginia, Steve Watchorn of Wisconsin and Kelly McKenzie of Kentucky (tied for 2nd), Ezequiel Berdichevsky of Michigan A, and Chris Vicich of Illinois. Kenney led the field with 60.91 points per game.
