Avinash started Quiz Bowl when he went to a Novice tournament on January 14, 2017. Although he did well, his team got 14th place. After that, Hopkins went to Cal Cup 3 in JV, and won. After studying more, his powers and PPB jumped when he lead his team to second at California Cup 4. At California MS States, they got second and secured their MSNCT bid. At MSNCT, he lead his team to fifth place and gained the title of All-Star after finishing 14th overall in scoring.

==High School Career==

At NHBB nationals, he was fourth in the US History Bee, 14th in the overall bee, and helped lead MSJ under the pseudonym of Team Escobar to a fourth place finish in the varsity bowl. He lead MSJ in scoring at HSNCT where they placed T-51.
