Eric Xu was a player at Western Albemarle High School in Virginia. In his first year of playing good quiz bowl tournaments, he was the 9th-place prelim scorer at the 2013 HSNCT. He went on to become one of the best HS players in the country, scoring over 100ppg at all of the NAQT tournaments at which he played, bringing his team to second place as top scorer at the 2014 NSC, and bringing his team to t-5th at the 2014 HSNCT as second overall scorer.
