General
Certamen is a quiz bowl-like sport, featuring one line, pyramidal tossups on the classics (Greece, Rome). An example tournament can be found here: 2018 Florida Junior Classical League Advanced Certamen - State Forum. This is a brief description of the game given by the National Junior Classical League: "Certamen is a game of fast recall of facts about classical civilizations and its peoples, languages, and cultures. The matches are supposed to be fun, competitive, and informative."
