Tracey Hickman is the coach at Murray State College and Camp Director for Oklahoma Quizbowl Camp. He played for Rock Creek High School and collegiately for Redlands Community College and the University of Central Oklahoma, and is the former coach of Coalgate High School. He is currently the principal organizer of pyramidal high-school quizbowl tournaments in Oklahoma, and has been a prominent fixture in the growth of good quizbowl in Oklahoma over the past several years.
Playing Career
Hickman attended Rock Creek High School, where he won several Class 2A OSSAA State Championships. After graduating, he attended Redlands Community College, which he and Dustin Austin led to a fourth-place finish at the 2013 CCCT. The following year, Hickman led the CCCT field in scoring en route to a ninth-place finish for Redlands. He then attended Central Oklahoma, where he rejoined Austin to place 26th in Division II of the 2015 ICT.
Coaching and Tournament Organization
Hickman is currently the coach at Murray State College, and has previously served as the coach of Coalgate High School. He is also involved in the organization of several NAQT tournaments in Oklahoma, including serving as the director of the NAQT Oklahoma State Championship every year since 2016. He is a frequent staffer at NAQT's national events (namely HSNCT and SSNCT), and has also directed (and played in) several Oklahoma ACRONYM mirrors.
