High Q (also sometimes "Hi-Q") is a semi-generic term for a number of local TV quizbowl-ish competitions. Although some are known by other more specific names, "High Q" alone generally refers to the WSBTV televised competition, which airs in the Atlanta metro area.
Some High-Q franchises are directly connected to the flagship It's Academic show and even share some of the same questions, while others appear to have evolved their formats independently and have no connection to IA. The variety of not necessarily affiliated shows called "High-Q" indicates that the name is probably not trademarked.
WSB-TV High Q
High Q features a single-elimination bracket of 32 apparently randomly-selected and randomly-seeded teams from the greater Atlanta region each year. The questions are non-pyramidal and usually speedchecks. It has run for 34 seasons, though the 34th season was apparently paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
