Britney Castleman hails from the small town of Napanee, Ontario and began playing Reach for the Top in Grade 10, as well as Whiz Quiz. She joined the UOttawa trivia club in her first year of university and was elected president two years later. She was re-elected President for the 2010-2011 year, by a margin of one vote over teammate Brendan McKendy.

Britney has coached several teams since 2021. During the 2021-2022 academic year she coached the Grade 7/8 Intermediate Reach for the Top team at St. Josephine's Virtual Academy, who went on to place 4th at the first ever Reach for the Top Junior Nationals. In 2022-2023, St. Mark Catholic High School were the Junior National Finalists. St. Mark repeated a second place finish at Reach Junior Nationals in 2023-2024.
