Cinco Ranch High School is a 9-12 high school in Katy, Texas. The school was established in 1999. It had an active Quiz Bowl program for about three years during the early 2000s. There are photos of Cinco students competing in the 2002 yearbook, and it has only one NAQT official statistic, when it sent two teams to the Aggie Bowl (10/16/2004). That is the last mention of Quiz Bowl at the school until the program was reestablished in 2010.

In 2010 Cinco Ranch returned to action in TQBA, beginning with the 2010 Kickoff Tournament at Seven Lakes (10/2/2010).  The sponsor at that time was journalism teacher, Ed Larsen. Larsen sponsored the team in the early teens and English teacher Asheley Miller also led the club until Spring 2015.  During these years the club was competitive on the local level, often fielding one or two teams in five or six local tournaments, but was not a factor at the state or national level.

The team qualified for Nationals, but almost didn't get to attend because the sponsor, Mr. Diethrich, was not able to attend the event, due to being out of the country.  AP History teacher, Matthew Smith, stepped in and took the four man team to the event in Forth Worth.  The team finished 53rd, while Amol Patil finished 6th in individuals.

In the fall of 2015 Amol Patil convinced Bob Diethrich, an AP Macroeconomics teacher to take over the club sponsorship. Diethrich took over in the fall of 2015. The team that year, featured Amol Patil and freshman Ben Nguyen.

In 2017, the team remained a one-man gang, as Amol Patil, while an excellent individual performer, could not recruit or assemble a complementary team. The team traveled to Atlanta for another top 100 performance, finishing 65th, while Amol was 8th in individuals. Together Amol and Bob Diethrich, brought Cinco Ranch Quiz Bowl out of the shadows and into a visible Texas and even national presence.

The 2017-18 season was a transition. Improving player Ben Nguyen took over as captain, as the team struggled to deal with the loss of Amol and trying to bring new talent into the fold. The team remained on the fringes of competitive relevance in Texas, but nationals were out of the question. Ben Nguyen did a great job holding the program together as the influx of talent was about to begin.
