2012-2013

In the 2012-2013 academic year, GWHS broke the school's locally infamous trend of being an infrequent attendee of tournaments. In 2013, GW's A team was composed of five juniors. The team ultimately finished as the large school runner-up at the West Virginia State tournament to South Charleston High School (South Charleston would lose to Bridgeport High for the overall title). GWHS also attended their first national tournaments in 2013. At HSNCT, GWHS finished 5-5 and narrowly missed the playoffs after losing in a match-up of 5-4 teams to Stoneman Douglas (Florida) 305 to 215. GWHS also attended NHBB Nationals in 2014, and finished 1-4 in the prelims before going 3-0 in the afternoon consolation rounds.
