The 2013 team at Detroit Catholic Central finished fifth at the [[2013 PACE]] and tied for 8th at the [[2013 HSNCT]]. The team was made up of Brandon Roach, Collin Parks, Paul Hamilton, and Mark Karabajakian.

The team was led in scoring by Science/Religion player Brandon and History/stuff player Collin Parks, both of whom frequently put up 65-70+PPG on regular season IS sets, while Art/Non Fic player Paul Hamilton and Lit player Mark would usually sit around at 20-30 ppg as support players.

The Catholic Central Varsity Academic Team finished the 2012-2013 season with eight first place finishes, two state championships, a top-10 national finish [[2013 HSNCT]] , and a top-5 national finish [[2013 NSC]], and a computer national championship, while compiling an overall record of 148-34.

The team struggled throughout much of the year, being defeated by 30 points by Northmont at the Ezell-Harding tournament to go home with third place. When the next big team was to be played, Brandon Roach was not available, and the team received two large losses to a Morgan Venkus led [[Loyola Academy]] and a Sid Dogra led [[Detroit Country Day]]. The team rallied back, and with Brandon Roach again on the team defeated Loyola Academy three times at the 2012 NIU mirror of ACF Fall. The next big tournament, HFT at Auburn, continued to show the problems of DCC. The team put up the highest points per bonus and the highest points per game at the tournament, but was unable to defeat a Dorman team and took a loss to them by 30 points. The team would have played an advantaged final against Dorman had it not been for their dropping a disappointing loss to Rockford Auburn due to a negging problem. The team came back to Illinois for New Trier's INTENSE, but again was defeated twice by a Dylan Minarik led Belvidere North.

The Catholic Central Varsity Academic Team finished the 2012-2013 season with eight first place finishes, two state championships, a top-10 national finish 2013 HSNCT , and a top-5 national finish 2013 NSC, and a computer national championship, while compiling an overall record of 148-34.

The Varsity A Team began the year replacing three of the four starters from the previous year’s NAQT National Runner-Up team. Responding to the challenge of new head coaches and a nearly entirely new team, the A Team, featuring seniors Brandon Roach, Collin Parks, Paul Hamilton (captain), and Mark Karabajakian, went 54-2 against in-state opponents, with one of those losses coming against the Varsity B Team.

The A Team finished the season by finishing 8th at NAQT’s High School National Championship and 5th at PACE’s National Scholastic Championship; the team’s highest PACE finish since 2006.

The Varsity B Team featuring seniors Evan Creel Gould and Matt Barnauskas, and sophomore Austin Foos and Jack Watts, finished their season with an 88-37 overall record and a 61-9 record against in-state opponents. The B Team was one of only two teams to defeat the A Team in the State of Michigan this season, and for a third straight year finished second at the NAQT State Championship Tournament. They capped off the year with a 21st place finish at NAQT’s High School National Championship (making Catholic Central one of only two school to place two teams in the top 25 in the nation) and a 28th place finish at PACE’s National Scholastic Championship.

The JV and Freshmen teams also competed successfully during the season. The JV Team finished undefeated against JV opponents (20-0) and won an impressive 51 games against varsity opponents. The Freshmen team went 15-4 against JV opponents with only one of those losses against a non-Catholic Central team, and won 21 games against varsity competition. This Freshmen team was also the first to qualify and attend a national championship tournament in school history. The Academic Teams are led by co-head coaches Benjamin Herman (’98) and Christopher Gismondi (’00) and assistant coach Anthony Cornish.
