The NAQT Delaware Championship is a high school quizbowl state championship tournament. The host rotates, but is often kept in northern Delaware where a majority of the quizbowl teams are located.
This tournament was once held around January or February, which is earlier than most NAQT state tournaments . This was because the Comcast Academic Challenge used to be during the month of February, and the Blue Hen is usually held in March. The 2005 state tournament was canceled when Comcast announced, without warning, that it was moving its taping schedule to Saturdays. Its subsequent folding after the 2008 tournament has allowed this tournament to return to February. Since 2011, the Delaware state championship has been held later in the year like most other state tournaments.
The tournament was sometimes run on a level A set because the end-of-year state championship set is usually not available in January. In the beginning, the easier difficulty better matched the field strength, but this is becoming less of an issue as teams improve.
