+ | Does QBWiki have a policy on how to refer to people who participated in quiz bowl but have since changed their name (such as [[Maia Karpovich]])? I think a sensible policy would be, in the case of events, to refer to people by the name they used at the time of the event, otherwise by their current name. + | :The statements in that edit were all either false (since I did attend the 2008 HSNCT and my "software career" is older than that incident), not about quiz bowl (the actual incident), or not about me (my former team's placement). So they were not "facts that are relevant to quiz bowl". Furthermore, I think there's a significant difference between writing about an incident that took place more than 12 years ago and had nothing to do with quiz bowl and removing information about the recent quiz bowl accomplishments of an active player. The instruction I gave you was tailored to the situation we were talking about then; it wasn't meant to be a perfect articulation of an overall rule. I've been okay with removing details of long-ago incidents even in quiz bowl if the subject wants them removed and there doesn't seem to be any significant benefit to keeping them; this is also consistent with that. + | :I know the victim's name is available on HSQB. For one thing, it's in a protected forum (though, admittedly, I think the only obstacle to seeing that is to create an account, which is a pretty low bar). For another, it is the victim sharing their own story rather than being named in nth-party reports. For a third, the victim specifically requested not to be named on the QBWiki. So we're going to keep their name off of it unless they change their mind. | ||

Oops, my mistake. Sorry I missed that. It seems that the other ICTs are listed as "xxxx ICT" rather than "xxxx NAQT ICT." I guess I'd lean towards keeping that pattern going but I'm amicable to either way. Michael Arnold
In particular, I think the term "ICT" is unique enough as a term that people know it means NAQT. "Nationals" is generic enough that calling it "ACF Nationals" is worthwhile and also reflects the common way of referring to it. Michael Arnold

I blanked the page, you can go ahead and delete it. Sorry about that, it was done as a birthday gift for him. Eventually, I will add useful information to his page.

Can I ask why this was reverted? Thanks in advance, Alex Liu (talk) 18:01, 21 November 2013 (PST)
- No idea; I must have misclicked while trying to revert the edit to IHSSBCA Hall of Fame. I'll fix it. Jonah (talk) 18:44, 21 November 2013 (PST)
Editing Permission
Hi, I don't know where else to put this, but was just wondering if I should edit the MCTC page to incorporate the actual logo of the school, or just leave it the way it is. Thanks, Peter
- Either way Jonah (talk) 05:14, 16 April 2014 (PDT)
- It's beautiful why would you want to change it Alex Liu (talk) 09:19, 16 April 2014 (PDT)
- I understand that, but the line on this wiki between presenting a factual basis and a lighthearted one seems thin. I know its just a little thing, but I always like to lean toward the side of being factual (for the wiki). Peter13
- don't you touch my logo, you fiend --Rob Carson (talk) 13:43, 16 April 2014 (PDT)
- that logo is super great. Cody Voight (talk) 13:53, 16 April 2014 (PDT)

QBWiki:Quizbowl Wiki:Community Portal
Hi Jonah,
Can you please delete QBWiki:Community Portal so that QBWiki:Quizbowl Wiki:Community Portal can be moved there? Thanks, Gregory Gauthier (talk) 07:43, 26 May 2014 (PDT)
- Done Jonah (talk) 10:31, 26 May 2014 (PDT)
- You accidentally deleted the page I wanted to move. In any event, I created a stub community portal at QBWiki:Community Portal, so the issue is moot, unless there was history at QBWiki:Quizbowl Wiki:Community Portal worth saving. Thank you, Gregory Gauthier (talk) 14:21, 26 May 2014 (PDT)
Thank you
I just would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for banning Zachary Yan. I thought he had stopped editing over the last month, but I thought wrong. So please accept my warm regard from not having to reformat a table or fix (large) spelling and grammatical errors.

Nathan Weiser's sweater
