Tony Scarps joined quiz bowl to spend more time with his good friends [[Ankush Bajaj]] and [[Sunny Chen]].  He joined in February, 2015, as a senior.  During his first practice, Tony answered three questions correctly against [[Sunny Chen]], [[Tony Yang]], James Zhou, and [[B.J. Ryan]].  To date, Tony has not shown up at an actual quiz bowl meet.

During the first day of the 2015 HSNCT nationals, Tony had to act as head coach for the first time.  Driving his mother's minivan, Tony Scarps brought the entire Hinsdale Central A Team.  After stopping for ramen in the way, Tony Scarps teamed up with Ankush, James, and Sunny for an undefeated night.  Tony did not attend the second day of nationals, but he returned on the third day.  Tony was eligible for the playoff round, so he played with [[Harrison Wang]] in consolation rounds.  During these rounds, he successfully powered his first tossup, a question about the Minnesota Wild, in the first 4 words.  Hinsdale Central ended the tournament tied for 8th place.

After nationals, Tony Scarps resigned as Student Coach of the Hinsdale Central A Team because he was no longer a student.  He was also unable to be head coach.  Instead, Tony Scarps returned occasionally as a guest lecturer for the Hinsdale Central A Team.  He is also a lead contributor to the General Discussion, a Facebook groupchat involving many members of the Hinsdale Central A Team.
