Sam Rombro played for Maryland. He was part of the Jordan Brownstein-led Maryland team that won the 2017 ACF Nationals. He was also part of the Maryland teams that finished in fourth place at 2016 ICT and 2016 ACF Nationals, winning the undergraduate championship at the latter event. He is noted for his deep affection for foreign sports, particularly cricket and Australian football.
Sam attended Pikesville High School in Baltimore County, where he played It's Academic and at least one real tournament. He matriculated at Maryland in the fall of 2014 and was the second scorer on the Maryland C team that finished in twelfth place in Division II at 2015 ICT.
The following fall, while playing for Maryland B at Penn Bowl, an error in inputting statistics into SQBS led to Sam seemingly achieving an impressive 1/2/11 line against NYU. In January 2016, Sam moved to Maryland A, with whom he won ACF Regionals and SCT and finished in second place at "stanford housewrite" to Chicago. In the semifinal of that year's ICT against Michigan, he recorded the best buzz of his career by first-lining a tossup on "My Name Is Red," beating several actual literature players to the question.
