GFA won the CT state championship and got 7th at the Darien Invitational.

While captained by Karsten Rynearson, they finished tied for fifth at the 2018 MSNCT after losing to BASIS Silicon Valley (a team they had earlier beaten) and Pi-oneers, the eventual winners. Karsten Rynearson finished second individual individually and was named an All-Star. While playing solo, Karsten was able to get third in the US Academic Bowl after a semifinal loss to Midtown Classical. Karsten went on to be the third ever champion of the National Humanities Bee and the runner up of the Academic Bee.
