The Peaceful Resolution of the Cuban Missile Crisis was an open tournament produced in the spring of 2012 by the Chicago team, with help from Ike Jose and Gautam Kandlikar. It was head-edited by Ike and Marshall Steinbaum. In addition to the main site ate Chicago, Peaceful Resolution was mirrored at George Mason and Harvard.
Controversy
In the discussion for the tournament, it was revealed that Marshall Steinbaum had intentionally written a question on "Frederick the Great" to be bad in order to prove a point about military tactics clues [1]. The tossup used only descriptions of tactical movements drawn from Clauswitz' "On War" and did not use a single proper noun until the FTP. Many observers strongly criticized Marshall for "using actual tournaments for point-scoring in quizbowl debates" (his words).
