High School Quiz Show is a statewide Massachusetts TV show that has buzzer races and is supposedly quiz bowl. It’s all buzzer races, and in the first and third quarter, players for whatever reason can’t buzz in until the question is finished. It’s hosted by this radio jock named Billy Costa, who is a mix between Peter Griffin and a Boston Brahmin, if you can believe it. Diary of a Wimpy Kid author Jeff Kinney is a regular host as well, filling in for him periodically. The show has had 10 seasons, if you can believe it, with Boston Latin winning in 2019, with Acton-Boxborough being the runner up. However, the prospect of quizbowl is looking up in Massachusetts, especially with the rise of NAQT.
