Overview

White Cloud, often abbreviated WC, is a Class C school located in White Cloud, Michigan, which is about an hour drive north of Grand Rapids, nestled in northern rural Newaygo County. With much of the community alongside the banks of the White River and the Manistee National Forest, White Cloud is home to many rich, scenic views and family activities. WC continues to maintain a proud tradition of quiz bowl at both the middle and high school level.

For over 20 years, White Cloud has hosted its annual Jan Rademacher Memorial Quiz Bowl Invitational typically held in October or November. The tournament honors Jan Rademacher, a longtime volunteer assistant coach and namesake of the event, who passed away August 23, 2003. The invitational features a trophy given to the highest individual scorer named after Brian Derks, a former captain, leading scorer, and state and national qualifier for White Cloud. He died tragically in Iraq on August 13, 2005, as he was serving his country and his God. Beginning in 2024, the championship trophies for the competition now bear the name, Tony McHattie, to honor the legendary foundational leader and longtime coach of the White Cloud's quiz bowl program.

White Cloud ranks #1 all-time in Michigan among Class C-D schools for qualifying to State the most number of times (3 of those years we were Class B).
