In formats with bounceback, bonus parts incorrectly answered by the team who answered the tossup are given to the opposition. Bouncebacks are sometimes referred to as steals. This supposedly leads to tighter games, and certainly to less complaining about a player's pet topic coming up in a bonus for the other team, who then got zero points on said bonus.
Examples
- PACE's NSC tournament notably uses bouncebacks.
