Johnson Central High School is located in Paintsville, Kentucky. It notably won the 2009 NTAE, which turned out to be the last incarnation of the tournament known as PAC.
As of the 2013-2014 season, the team is head coached by Brenda Porter and assistant coached by 2007 & 2008 Alumni, respectively, Bobby Cantrell and Shawn Butcher.
History
Johnson Central is traditionally a KAAC Academic Team. The first instance of Johnson Central competing at KAAC State is believed to be 1994, and has since amassed several Top 3 finishes in Quick Recall (including the 2009 Quick Recall State Championship) and numerous second place finishes in Overall competition, although an overall state championship still eludes them.
Although not mainly focused on Quiz Bowl, Johnson Central has competed in, and won several Quiz Bowl competitions including ABC, Fleming Co, and Hart Co.
