Western Albemarle is a public high school in Crozet, Virginia in the Charlottesville area.
VHSL Scholastic Bowl
Western Albemarle won the first class AA title in VHSL in 1998 and has been a perennial contender again since 2008, qualifying for the state tournament in the last seven straight years. In 2011, they finished second in AA. In 2013, they lost two games on the final tossup to New Kent, in the winners' bracket final and the first game of the championship final, to finish second. In 2014, under the realigned VHSL system, Western Albemarle was the winner in the new class 3A.
Other quizbowl
Western began competing in non-VHSL events in the fall of 2012. They won the 2013 NAQT Virginia Championship by going undefeated as all other teams lost 2 or more games, and the 2014 NAQT Virginia title by winning in the final against Maggie Walker. They ended the year with an eighth place finish at HSNCT and a second-place run at NSC, losing in a one-game final to LASA A after defeating LASA earlier in the playoffs.
