The Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association began awarding state titles for academic bowl in 1990.
The tournament is annually held at Redlands Community College in El Reno, Okla. on the first Saturday in February. In 2009, OSSAA shifted the classifications, dropping Class B and adding 6A.
