In 2004, the Washington Post published a front-page article featuring a number of prominent quizbowl players that had succeeded in winning large prizes on television game shows. The article also profiled several members of NAQT including Ken Jennings and Kevin Olmstead and went into some detail about the business side of quizbowl as well as the wedding of NAQT president Robert Hentzel to Emily Pike.
The article is also notable for including perhaps the only mainstream media reference to the Chicago Open.
