Grand Junction is the only Colorado high school with any consistent participation in national-level pyramidal quizbowl. They were regular participants in the National Academic Championship until 2000 when one of their teams was controversially disqualified.
Grand Junction has also been the perennial representative for Colorado at the Panasonic Academic Challenge, finishing sixth at the 2004 PAC, fifth at the 2005 PAC, and first at the 2015 NTAE.
Either Grand Junction or Fairview in Boulder usually wins the Colorado State Knowledge Master Open competitions.
