Smithville High School is located in Smithville, MO, just north of Kansas City. The school competes in Class 3 of MSHSAA competition.

Smithville first advanced to the MSHSAA state championship in 2009, after several years of being stuck in the same district as Class 3 powerhouse Savannah. The team placed second in 2010 and third in 2011.

Smithville hosted its first Varsity tournament in November 2004 and continues to host it annually, now in late January. Originally run in a four quarter format, the tournament started using an NAQT IS set in 2013.
