WAO (Will Alston Open) was a collegiate regular-plus difficulty open tournament with optional packet submission for spring 2017. The tournament was head edited by its namesake Will Alston, with help from Joey Goldman, Athena Kern, Jason Cheng, James Lasker, and Naveed Chowdhury. Its name is a reference to the Junot Diaz book The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.
