Josh Rutsky attended Oberlin College. He has served as President of the Alabama Scholastic Competition Association and is a co-founder of Qwiz. In 2015, he was awarded the Cooper Award for his efforts encouraging good quizbowl practices in Alabama, including running the entire ACSA state series on pyramidal questions.

Coaching

Rutsky was a very successful coach at Hoover, where he led the team to four straight NAQT Alabama Championships from 2009 to 2012, several [[ASCA High School State Championships, and 17th place at the 2009 HSNCT. Under Rutsky's direction, Hoover also hosted many successful editions of the Hoover Invitational, which grew into one of the largest quizbowl events in the Southeast and attracted a significant number of out-of-state teams to play the best teams in Alabama.
