Will Nediger, a noted Canadian, played quizbowl as a Ph.D student at Michigan, which he led (with Auroni Gupta) to first place at the 2017 ICT and 2016 ACF Nationals. Before that, he played as a undergraduate for Western Ontario. Earlier still, in 2007, he won the Reach for the Top Ontario provincial finals and national finals with London Central. With two other members of that team, Peter Burton and Will Pazner, he won the second place Division II title at the 2008 NAQT ICT. He also led his team to win the 2017 Chicago Open, having also won in the previous year.

Will is a well-regarded writer and editor, having served on the editing staff for 2009 ACF Fall, 2013 Michigan Fall Tournament, 2014 ACF Regionals, 2016 MLK, and 2023 ACF Nationals. He is also the author of several side tournaments which have been increasingly well-received, including:

  • two experimental lit tournaments, 2010 MELD (Mildly Experimental Literature Doubles) and 2012 WELD (Wildly Experimental Literature Doubles)
  • five annual iterations of the vanity tournament Scattergories, from 2017 to 2021
  • Logomachy, the first quizbowl event to focus on "words" [1] (and its upcoming sequel Logodaedaly [2])
  • On Cinema at the Buzzer, a film set

He is a noted constructor and editor of crossword puzzles. [3] [4]

Will improves as the difficulty and obscurity of the questions increases, making him a highly sought-after teammate for Chicago Open (which he has won thrice: in 2016, 2017, and 2023, and been the top individual scorer at once: in 2013). He managed to achieve more than twice the PPG of anyone else at the premier site of the ultra-difficult Fernando Arrabal Tournament of the Absurd while playing with Seth Teitler, Selene Koo, and Sam Bailey.
