THUNDER is the name given to two collegiate tournaments organized by Eric Mukherjee. Both were intended to be power-marked, regular-difficulty events with each category written entirely by one person.
THUNDER
The first incarnation of THUNDER was written by Eric Mukherjee, Trygve Meade, and George Stevens with assistance from John Lawrence and was played in October 2009. It received some criticism for excessive length and difficulty in some questions.
THUNDER II
THUNDER II, played in December 2010, was written by Eric Mukherjee, Ike Jose, Dominic Machado, Ike Jose, and Auroni Gupta, with some last-minute contributions from others (Jonathan Magin and Chris Chiego are credited). Its average question length and difficulty was down from THUNDER I. It was the only tournament written with the intention of being regular difficulty for the fall semester of 2010.
