The 2011 Snow Carleton Academic Tournament (SnowCAT) was a high school quizbowl tournament run on NAQT IS-100 at Carleton College and directed by Carsten Gehring. The tournament took place on January 22nd and was the eighth edition of Carleton's annual SnowCAT.
Format
With 31 teams, the preliminary rounds were run with five groups of five and one group of six. The final rounds placed the top six teams into the group of six. This was the first SnowCAT that did not use a sixteen-team single elimination bracket to determine the winner.
Results
Chanhassen A went undefeated throughout the day to claim first place. Chaska A, Eden Prairie A, and Wayzata B tied for second place, with all teams agreeing to use statistical tiebreakers rather than play games to decide placement, as the top five teams all qualified for HSNCT regardless. This resulted in Eden Prairie A finishing second, Chaska A third, and Wayzata B fourth. The top scorer at the tournament was Max Timmons of St. Paul Central.
