Dylan Minarik plays for Northwestern. With Ben Lewis, he placed 2nd in D2 at the 2014 ICT and was the top overall scorer. He also led Northwestern to a decent middle bracket finish at the 2014 ACF Nationals, despite being the only member of his team who bothered to show up to every playoff game. During his senior year at Belvidere North, he was a prolific high scorer, taking 1st individually at almost every regular season high school tournament he played and eventually tied for 13th at the 2013 HSNCT and 19th at the 2013 NSC, where he was the 2nd place prelim scorer at both tournaments. During his four years, Belvidere North turned from a program that only played crappy Illinois tournaments into a state powerhouse. Starting in the Fall of 2014, Dylan has taken over as the President of Northwestern's quizbowl team due to the graduation of Dan Donohue.
In 2014, Dylan became an HSQuizbowl moderator and an IHSSBCA member. He won his first and likely only national championship by defeating MIT B in a one game final for the 2015 ACF Nationals DII title. Playing on shorthanded teams, he was the second place prelim scorer at both national tournaments in 2015 and led Northwestern to a top 20 finish overall at both events.
