Maia Karpovich goes to Oklahoma. She played for IMSA in high school (under the name Anton Karpovich), being very strong in the sciences, especially astronomy.
At the annual Scobol Solo, Karpovich placed in a tie for third as a sophomore, and won the tournament as a junior, becoming the first (and as of 2017, only) IMSA player to win the tournament.
In 2012 and 2013, Karpovich was an All-Star at the HSNCT. In 2013 and 2014, Karpovich was named First Team [IHSSBCA All State Program|All-State]]. During her three years of playing high school quizbowl, IMSA won three IHSA state titles, two NAQT State Titles, and two Masonic State Titles. Between individual and team success, Karpovich ranks among the most decorated individuals in Illinois quizbowl history.
Maia won the Illinois History Bee in 2013.
