Riverton is a school located in the town of Riverton, Illinois, just northeast of Springfield, Illinois. With an enrollment that is below 500, Riverton is generally considered a "small school" for sake of competition classification.
Within the scope of the IHSA State Tournament, Riverton has twice qualified for the State Finals (2004 & 2015) by winning their Sectional Tournament, and (as of 2017) has won 5 IHSA Regional Tournaments.
Riverton has, so far, attended all four editions of the SSNCT. In 2014, Riverton finished in a tie for 17th. In 2015, Riverton finished in a tie for 11th place at SSNCT. In 2016, the team finished 73rd, but finished 57th in the traditional public school division of the 2017 SSNCT.
At both the 2014 and 2015 SSNCTs, Michael Shereda finished in the top 10 among individual scorers, and was thus a tournament All-Star.
