The State University of New York at Stony Brook (often called Stony Brook University or just SBU) is a public research university located on Long Island, New York.
History
Stony Brook quiz bowl teams existed at various times during the late 90s and early 2000s. It occasionally showed up to both the ICT and College Bowl nationals, most recently CBI's nationals in 2005, always performing very poorly.
The team's most recent incarnation was founded by Robert Pond and Naib Mobassir in 2011, and has attended tournaments semi-regularly since then. The school's location on Long Island makes it unusually isolated for an East Coast team.
The team was revived in Spring 2020 by Jade Anderson, Marc Calza, Kate Long, and Jack Bauer.
Tournaments
The team’s premiere housewritten tournament was held on Wolfie Bowl on August 1, 2020 with Solon A coming in first place.
