Parkland Challenge is an local high school quiz bowl tournament hosted at Parkland College in Champaign, IL. It consist of 17 high schools in Champaign County, IL and its surrounding areas. The schools are separated into 4 brackets. Mike Coulter, the instructional technology specialist at Parkland College moderates the games. Single-elim on mostly one-clue tossups are used and there are no bonuses. There's conferring on tossups for a team when the other team guesses wrong. At certain points of the match, each team is given a video question answer. There is a lighting round in the middle of the match. When a question is answered incorrectly, the team that answered incorrectly loses 10 points and the toss-up becomes dead.
