The Virgin Islands Quiz Bowl is a state-level championship held in and for the territory of the U.S. Virgin Islands. The tournament was first held in 1978 and has occurred annually each spring through at least 2019, with the exception of 2018 when the lasting effects of Hurricanes Irma and Maria forced its cancellation. Whether the tournament was held in 2020 or 2021 in light of the covid pandemic is not known.
The current tournament format is double-elimination with 5-on-5 team play in each game. In at least some years in the 2000s the questions were provided by Questions Unlimited in the four-quarter game format though it is unknown if this is currently the case. Champions of this tournament have competed at the National Academic Championship in the past.
The tournament is currently sponsored by the St. Thomas-St. John Federation of Teachers, the public broadcaster WTJX Channel 12, and the Virgin Islands Lottery Community Initiative.
