Newman Central Catholic High School is a private high school in Sterling, Illinois. The team competes in Class A, the "small school" division, of the Illinois High School Association's State Championship series.
The mid-2010's saw the Comets among the most dominant small-school quiz bowl programs in Illinois winning hardware in both IHSA & Masonic State Tournaments during consecutive seasons. Those teams would be led by Coach Ann Propheter, who coached the team until 2017. In 2023, Propheter would be inducted into the IHSSBCA's Hall of Fame for the program's accomplishments during her tenure.
