Chris Chiego is a notable player and former team president and treasurer at Georgia. While there, he helped lead a rise in Georgia's quizbowl fortunes, culminating in the highest-ever finishes for a UGA team at a nationals (9th in DII at 2005 ICT, 15th overall at the 2009 ICT) as well as the most number of teams fielded (six at the 2007 ACF Fall Southeast mirror). He will be missed by the southeast community for both his playing skills and talent for running efficient tournaments.
High School Experience
Chris excelled at the 3 local pyramidal tournaments he played in high school, but his school chose to concentrate on the local TV tournament, [1], which once negged him for saying "centrifuges" instead of "devices for making nuclear material."
Tournament Directing Experience
Helped establish and direct the first Classic City Classic as well as the UGA Late Fall tournament. Directed mirrors of TIT 2008 as well as ACF Winter 2009 and the 2009 NAQT SCT Southeast.
Writing Experience
Chris has collaborated on a number of novelty tournaments with Bruce Arthur, including July Crisis and RMPFest. Solo-author of a packet for Zot Bowl as well as Geography Monstrosity. Question contributor to GADDIS II [[2]] and a few other collegiate tournaments. Also helped write several UGA high school tournaments in mACF style in an effort to expand good quizbowl in the Southeast.
Other
- Liveblogged the 2009 HSNCT, which ended up getting a mention on Deadspin [3]. See this site for links to the liveblog.
- Was famously asked in an interview, "So what is this...quizbowl thing?"
