Ocean Lakes High School is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia and is coached by Miranda Blaser and co-coached by Lisa Gibson. The school includes a Math and Science Academy magnet program. Ocean Lakes has long been a contender at VHSL and began playing more independent tournaments, to great success, in 2022.

In VHSL, Ocean Lakes was part of the VHSL Eastern Region until the 2014 VHSL Realignment. After the 2014 realignment, the school became part of VHSL Region 6A South. Starting with the 2017-18 season, Ocean Lakes was part of the VHSL Class 6 Region A as a result of the 2018 VHSL Realignment. Starting in the 2023-24 season, Ocean Lakes was in VHSL Class 5 Region A.

Ocean Lakes was runner-up to Thomas Jefferson at the 2006 VHSL State Championship. They won the Eastern Region tournament in 2000, 2006, 2009, and 2010, and were runners-up in 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2012. Ocean Lakes won the Region 6A South tournament in 2014 and 2017. Ocean Lakes won the Conference 1 tournament in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017, all four years of its existence.

Ocean Lakes played Battle of the Brains in the mid-to late-2000s, as well as 2023-24 and 2024-25. They won the 2006, 2007, and 2009 Southeast Virginia Battle of the Brains. Ocean Lakes lost the championship game to Maggie Walker in 2006 and 2007. At the same time, they also competed in the invitational circuit and attended the 2006 HSNCT, where they finished 60th out of 128 teams. In 2024, Ocean Lakes attended HSNCT for the first time in 18 years and placed 65th out of 320 teams.
