Charlie Perkins plays for William and Mary and is a former Honaker player. He also played on a one-off team dubbed "Robert Zimmerman High School," which was basically him and three other Honaker players who couldn't get clearance from the school board to play under an official name without their coach.
He broke all his team's major scoring (and consequently, negging) records in high school and led the team to their 13th consecutive VHSL Black Diamond District championship, their 6th VHSL Region D championship, and a 2nd place finish at the 2010 VHSL Group A State Championship, the highest finish for a Region D team in Scholastic Bowl history. Of course, being from the boondocks, the team never went to an HSNCT or PACE National tournament despite qualifying for both.
