Current members of East's quiz bowl team include William Holub-Moorman, team captain and literature/history specialist, Jacob Reed, club secretary and music/art specialist, Sung-Hoon Kim, club treasurer and science/mythology specialist, Yuyi Li, club VP and history specialist, Grant Holub-Moorman, Bernie Amaldoss, Ritam Chakraborty, Milica Stanisic, Vishwas Rao, and Roman Lin.
In the 2011-2012 season, the team of Holub-Moorman, Reed, Kim, and Lin has so far placed second at Tar Heel Cup and Quaker Bowl.
In the 2010-2011 season, the A team placed 4th at the Duke Invitational Meet, 3rd at Raleigh Charter's Right Triangle Open, and won WCHL 1360AM's Community Quiz Bowl challenge against Carrboro and Chapel Hill High Schools.
Notable ex-players include Alex Loyal, art history and physics specialist, Alex Mariakakis, Music (especially jazz) specialist, generalist Josh Loyal, History and Politics specialist Ezra Dunkle Polier, military history expert Jun Hong, and mythology guru, all-around player, and member of the 2009 North Carolina All-Star Quiz Bowl Team Arthur Kim.
