Ted Gioia was a player on the Stanford team that won the inaugural College Bowl NCT in 1978. He should not be confused with his nephew, also known as Ted Gioia, who played for Harvard from 2007 to 2012. Wikipedia describes him as a "noted jazz critic and music historian."
