Charlie Perkins played a semester or two for William and Mary, was Honaker's Captain in 2010, and since the 2015-2016 season has been the Head Coach at Honaker, guiding the team to two consecutive VHSL state titles in 2016 and 2017.
Also led a one-off unofficial Honaker team under the name of "Robert Zimmerman High School" at a 2010 NAREN mirror in Concord, NC. They finished in 4th place out of 14, a field which included teams like Raleigh Charter and Dorman. He still competes in the occasional open and trash tournament, often using the names of former high schools in middle Appalachia for pseudonyms.
He served as a Group Coordinator of the VHSL State Tournament in 2012, 2013, and 2015.
