2018 VHSL Realignment

The 2018 VHSL Realignment will take effect for Scholastic Bowl purposes beginning with the 2018 state championship series.

The structure of play will be completely overhauled for the second time since the 2014 VHSL Realignment. The changes will eliminate all conferences and instead keep districts. Postseason play will start in region tournaments instead of conference tournaments as before. Each of the existing 12 regions will be split in half to create four-region classes. For example, Region 6A North and South will be split into Regions 6A, 6B, 6C, and 6D. The classifications will no longer be called 6A, 5A, 4A, etc., and instead will be called Class 6, Class 5, and so on.
