Gioia

There are two members of the Gioia (JOY-ah) family who have been active in quiz bowl: Ted Gioia and his cousin Thomas Gioia.

Ted's father, Dana, is a poet and writer. Thomas's father, also named Ted, is a jazz historian. Dana and the elder Ted are brothers - thus, the two quiz bowlers are first cousins.
