Nick Poulos was the captain and top scorer for New Trier during the 2000-01 season, his senior year. He answered about half of the team's tossups that year and was one of the top players in Illinois. Starting during his senior year, he wrote an intramural trash tournament which became known as the Nick Poulos Memorial, and the tournament was carried on by his younger brother Greg and a few other people. Nick is still alive.
Nick also played a little for Chicago. He was on the winning team of the 2002 Fabulous Unnamed Chicago Tournament along with Baude, Butler, and Kathleen Moriarty. He majored in Geography and Chemistry, and he then became a grad student in Human Geography at Boston University.
